A really full weekend!

On Friday, Daddy took a half day from work and surprised Caitlyn with a trip to Bowlmore with her friend Christina. We had a great time. These girls are naturals (much better than Dad). After a few games of bowling, we finished off with a hard fought game of air hockey at the arcade.
That night we split forces. Caitlyn went off to her first ever sleep over!!! And Mommy, Daddy and Hayley were off to the duPonts to play with ducks and learn a new Dance! On Sunday, it was off to New York, where Uncle Peter met us at the Museum of Natural History. (We also finally got to see his apartment!)

Caitlyn's big theatre debut

This week Caitlyn went to the orphanage...At her drama camp they put on Annie, and she was awesome! You can catch it all here.

Caitlyn and Hayley both have been singing the songs non-stop all week. It may be a hard knock life, but there's always tomorrow :)

Hiking and Diving

This weekend Daddy, Caitlyn and Hayley went hiking in the Browne Wildlife Sanctuary.
Daddy used to hike in these woods when he was a kid. We saw flowers and mushrooms and little toads. There where lots of big boulders and we climbed some of them.
Here are some videos of Caitlyn and Hayley climbing.

Caitlyn also learned to dive off the diving board this weekend! Quite a day!

4th of July at Silver Spring

After a long hiatus, Caitlyn has decided it's time we started blogging again. She's going to help with our posts from now on! Below are the happenings of the Edwards family the week of July 4th, 2015!

Caitlyn, Hayley and Mommy went to go see the new movie "Inside Out" while Daddy was at work. Inside out was about the visions inside your head. There are joy, fear, anger, disgust and sadness inside Riley's head [she is the main character in the movie.] Caitlyn and Hayley shared a blue Icee at the movie.

We all went to go see Mommy's dance show. Mommy wasn't in it because she couldn't go to all the rehearsals but we saw a lot of other dances that were great!

Caitlyn and Hayley spent the afternoon at Nana and Gramp's house. Caitlyn sewed an owl and Hayley sewed a bumblebee. Gramps helped Hayley and Nana helped Caitlyn.

The Edwards family all went to go see the Fourth of July Fireworks. It was so pretty! There were rides there like a blow up water slide and an obstacle course. We had dinner there too. Caitlyn and Hayley got tattoos. Caitlyn got one on her arm and Hayley got two on her legs and one on her arm. Caitlyn did the Cotton Eye Joe when the DJ played it. She also did the Macarena. The fireworks were at Silver Spring Country Club.

First Day of Preschool at NCCS

I must admit, I would NOT have been surprised if some tears were shed on the first day of school (by Caitlyn, of course, not by me.) Caitlyn is often weary of new situations and needs some time to get used to a routine. But her first day at NCCS went better than any of us had imagined -- she was immediately comfortable with her new teachers (whom she had met two days prior), her classroom and saw a couple of familiar faces. The ever growing number of creatures in the classroom also helped to alleviate any uneasiness -- on day 1 alone, there was a parakeet, two guinea pigs, a slew of walking stick insects, 4 frogs, and a betta fish...apparently, this number will grow as the year progresses. Caitlyn came home happy (and exhausted) after her first day and not a tear was shed. Granted, it's only a week into preschool, but she is excited to go to school everyday. And, we look forward to hearing the synopsis of her day.

Hayley loves Peekaboo

Hayley thought Dad playing peekaboo was about the funniest thing she'd ever seen! And we thought she was about the cutest.

Quick iPhone Candid

This is Hayley at around 4 1/2 months. Still no hair and no real signs of any coming in. For the most part, she is a happy and very inquisitive baby.

Also need to put down for the record that she slept for over 12 hours straight last week (6:30 pm - 7:00 am). She doesn't need to eat anymore during the night and takes 4 big bottles a day. (I only have to run the dishwasher once/day now!)

Hayley - 10 weeks

Just a couple of cute Hayley pics (not that we're biased or anything).

Hayley - March pics

Caitlyn'isms

So cute, we just had to put them on the record.

After reading the book, Jesus Loves Me (sent by the Pearsons for Hayley's Christening):
Caitlyn: "Is Jesus a superhero or something?"

Jaety goofing around with Caitlyn: "Come on little Munchkin..."
Caitlyn: "I'm not a munchkin. I'm a donut."

Second time at Kid City

Last March, we took Caitlyn to an amazing children's museum in Middletown, CT called Kid City. She frequently asks to go back. So, as a treat for being such an awesome big sister, we planned a special day (Jaety took the day off) during the middle of the week to bring her back there. She blew through the entire museum in about 20 minutes but then we went back to some of her favorite rooms in the museum where she engaged in a lot of pretend play and dress up.

Hayley's Christening

Hayley was baptized on February 27th. It was an exciting and special day for all of us. On the other hand, Hayley seemed rather oblivious as to what was going on as she slept through the entire event. Many thanks to Godparents, Jenny and Mike, for agreeing to provide spiritual guidance to Hayley -- no pressure or anything :)

Snow Forts Galore

The crazy amount of snow we've had this winter gave Jaety and Caitlyn plenty of opportunities to build snow forts. I think Jaety had as much fun making these forts (if not more) as Caitlyn had playing in them. Seriously, one of these forts had a slide!

Early Hayley Days

We're finally getting around to posting some more early pictures of Hayley. When I look at them now, it's amazing how much she's grown in just 8 weeks. She's now 11 lbs, 22.25 inches long. Caitlyn is still infatuated with (and amazingly tolerant of) her new baby sister. Jaety and I couldn't be more proud of how she is with her.

Welcome Hayley!

Hayley Alexandra Edwards was born Tues. Jan 4 at 9:11am. Vital Stats for the scorecard: 6lb. 7oz., 18 1/2 inches. Mom and baby are doing great, and we get to welcome them home tomorrow!

From Hayley's First Day

Caitlyn's so excited to have a little sister. Tonight, while holding her sister in her lap, Caitlyn kissed her and told us "I love Hayley," which put huge smiles on Mom and Dad's faces.

Welcome Hayley! We're so excited to turn our party of three into a quartet!

Christmas 2010

Caitlyn's definitely got the present opening and sugar inhaling down (ate 5 peanut butter blossoms in one sitting!)Oddly enough, she was very fixated that Rudolph didn't finish the carrot that she left for him the night before. (Of course, Santa finished all of his peanut butter blossoms). All in all, Christmas was exhausting but always magical through the eyes of a 3-year old.

First Dance Class

Caitlyn started her first ballet/tap class last week and absolutely, positively was enthralled by the whole experience. (She even had a great time picking out her leotards and shoes at the store). I was nervous by how she would be at a drop-off class but I went into class with her, put on her ballet shoes and then she said, "Okay, Bye Mommy". BLEW ME AWAY. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures of the class but we could watch outside through a one-way mirror and Caitlyn was so comfortable with her new ballet classmates and teacher, who I think spent more time tying ballet slippers/tap shoes than anything else. On a related note, does anyone know how to keep those ballet slippers from untying? And yes, we've enforced the rule that tap shoes are only for class...that one cannot wear tap shoes inside the house especially when the majority of the flooring is wood.

Halloween 2010

Caitlyn was able to use her Cinderella costume twice on Halloween. Once, during the day, for the town parade and later, in the evening, for the actual trick or treating event. We were happy to go trick or treating with Caitlyn's preschool friend, Caitlin (aka "other Caitlyn"), and her family, as well as a few neighbors we met along the way. Amazingly, Caitlyn only asked for a few pieces of chocolate that night and then seemingly forgot about her stash the next day. Unfortunately, Mom and Dad definitely could not forget about the candy stash and indulged for a few more days (dare I say, weeks) post Halloween.

Caitlyn's 3rd Birthday Party

Caitlyn had a fun (and sugar frosting-filled) birthday weekend. She was spoiled by lots of visitors (aka aunts/uncles giving presents) and the weekend was topped off by a party at a local gym where 13 or so kids got to romp around and run off their energy. We don't know if it was the excitement or the frosting she licked off the cake but Caitlyn was up until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. On the downside, she started to think that every weekend was her birthday weekend so we had to manage her expectations a wee bit (didn't help that the following weekend was Halloween so she got more candy then).
